The Future of America Learning Center (FALC) was developed to provide full-day, affordable, high-quality, and educational child care services to the children of working 1199SEIU parents and to those from neighboring communities. FALC was established in 1993 and is located in the Fordham section of Bronx, New York. It has been the standard practice of the 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation to open its door to everyone in the community where FALC is located.
FALC is licensed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). FALC’s pedagogy includes content focused on The Arts and STEAM; the research-based assessment tools, such as Work Sampling System; Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) for Children’s Resiliency which involves the family in the observation and rating of their child’s behavior and relationships.
FALC currently serves as a host school within The Learning Partners Program of the NYC Department of Education (NYCDOE) which seeks to “build the capacity of host schools to share their strong practices with other schools and to continue strengthening their own practices, support partner schools in learning systems, structures, and strategies to strengthen particular areas of practice, and strengthen system-wide knowledge sharing about strong practices in order to improve student outcomes.”
