Patricia McAlmont
Why did Patricia McAlmont begin her health journey and join WeightWatchers®? Patricia set a goal to lose 100 pounds—so that she can walk as much as she likes—with no pain and no restrictions!
Patricia loves walking, and that is a big reason why she decided to change her lifestyle. “When I walk, it frees me; it clears my head and helps me solve any problems I may be experiencing,” she says. She’s even set a goal—losing 100 pounds. Why? “Taking off that weight will allow me to go further; I want to walk as much as I like, without pain and with no restrictions.”
Patricia McAlmont considers what she does for a living to be more than just a job—it’s an occupation that has helped her to grow as a person. “Before I started here, I was shy,” she explains. “But my job introduced me to such a wide variety of people, now I’m open to trying new things and speaking up more. That never would have happened without the close relationships I’ve developed with my clients.”
When Patricia’s doctor suggested she lose weight, Patricia reached out to the Wellness Department to connect with a dietician—and the weekly talks have been a big help. When she found out about the WeightWatchers benefit, she signed up right away. She’s glad she did. “The Points System doesn’t make you feel like you’re on a diet at all,” she explains. “You don’t have to give anything up if you follow it.” And she joined along with her friend Faith, a fellow home health aide. They plan to attend WeightWatchers workshops together. “It’s good to have a buddy with you,” she says. “That way, I have someone who can be there for support if I need it.”

Patricia is very happy that she has the chance to make WeightWatchers a part of her health journey. She cut out soda—which she used to drink with every meal—switching to seltzer or water instead, and has started eating vegetables. She’s also begun to exercise, going for walks as often as she can when she’s not working.
All of the changes in her lifestyle led Patricia to set a goal of losing 100 pounds. “My orthopedist told me that losing weight will help me to be able to walk as much as I like, without pain and with no restrictions. It will take a while, but now I’m confident I can do it,” she says.”
